Sponsor Services

Go on, show off your assets ... At Sportsworld, we understand that carefully selected sports sponsorships are an attractive platform for brands. Given the power of sport to engage consumers and the increasing fragmentation of media (making brand cut-through ever harder), sponsorship can be a compelling and cost effective tool within the marketing mix. A major event sponsorship brings with it a varied (and valuable) inventory of assets, all of which need careful management to ensure a good return on investment. These assets typically include: Event tickets Hospitality suites Access to product showcasing Hotel rooms Official transportation inventory Sportsworld is well versed in the operational rigours of managing sponsor assets, from up front programme development through to onsite delivery and post-event reporting. We have designed and managed over 50 official sponsor hospitality programmes at major sporting events the world over, and won awards to boot. We can help you

NYPL celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

The New York Public Library’s premier Puerto Rican/Latino Cultural Center—The Bronx Library Center—kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month with Pioneros II: Puerto Ricans in New York City 1948–1998 , an exhibit from the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College . The exhibit is based on the  book by the same title by Virginia SĂĄnchez Korrol (Professor emerita at Brooklyn College) and Pedro Juan HernĂĄndez (Archivist at the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College).   Following World War II, there was a mass migration of Puerto Ricans to New York. The book/exhibit features images and text which documents “ their stories and struggles, culture and values, entrepreneurship, and civic, political, and educational gains. The Puerto Rican community's long history and achievements opened pathways for the city's newer Latino immigrant communities.”   Hispanic Heritage Week was first observed in the United States in 1968 under President

USA new york liberary

This Is How The New York Public Library Sorts Books   At  most libraries books are hand-sorted by library staff and unpaid volunteers.  The NYPL was having problems because of the large volume of books being processed, and they had difficulty finding people to do the work.  They have now installed a $2.3 million book-sorting machine that operates like an automated airport baggage carousel. On one side of the machine, which is two-thirds the length of a football field and encircled by a conveyor belt, staff members place each book face-down on a separate panel of the belt. The book passes under a laser scanner, which reads the bar code on the back cover, and the sorter communicates with the library’s central computer system to determine where the book should be headed. Then, as the conveyor belt moves along, it drops the book into one of 132 bins, each associated with a branch library. A video at the link explains that books can now reach their r

Loan Consolidation Student Loans

When a borrower consolidates loans in the Direct Consolidation Loan Program, the U.S. Department of Education (Department) pays off the original Federal education loans and originates a new loan for the total amount of the loan(s) consolidated. Here's how that works: Step 1: Application Review We review the borrower's application and enter it into our system. If there is missing or incorrect information, we attempt to contact the borrower directly and/or send a letter identifying the needed information. If a borrower applied for the loan by phone or through the web, the Loan Consolidation Department sends a promissory note to be signed and returned by the borrower. The borrower has 14 days to provide the information to us or the application is cancelled. Step 2: Loan Verification We request verification of the information on the borrower's application to determine each loan's eligibility for consolidation and its payoff balance. Currently, we electronically v

Website Optimization for Yahoo

Google may seem to own the search space these days, but Yahoo still sees a respectable amount of traffic. Unlike Google, Yahoo is a content producer as well as a search engine; additionally, they didn't start out as an algorithm-based search engine. How does that affect it today? And what does that mean for you if you're trying to get your site viewed by Yahoo users? Keep reading for the answers.According to Comscore stats, Yahoo holds around 20% of the search engine market share. Compete.com also supports this, giving Yahoo 19.4%. Hitwise awards Yahoo 22.55%, so it's safe to say Yahoo holds around 20% of the search engine market share in the United States. That number differs for UK, Canada and other countries. Yahoo Inc originally started in 1994 as a web directory by Jerry Yang and David Filo. Its original URL resided on akebono.stanford.edu/yahoo, and the name Yahoo translated to "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle." After keeping up Yahoo for a bit, t

Bursting the bubble

If you're suffering from hypothyroidism, there is no reason to avoid vegetables. Diet quackery has existed for many years and as interest in weight and fitness issues increases, there is a rise in the number of fads. I often hear people avoiding certain foods and vegetables, such as soy, turnips, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and brussel sprouts due to an underlying fear that these foods interfere with the synthesis of the thyroid hormone which is responsible for metabolism. The belief is that this promotes weight gain. Those diagnosed with an established under-active thyroid (hypothyroidism) in particular seem to be following this practice although it is not limited to them. The origin of this fad may be that soy, cabbage, turnip, cauliflower, radish, broccoli, brussel sprouts, rutabaga, kale and kohlrabi contain substances known as goitrogens. Goitrogens are substances that suppress the function of the thyroid gland by interfering with the iodine uptake, which can cause an e

Van Heusen Men's Fashion Week 2010 - Glimpses

This year's edition of the Van Heusen Men's Fashion Week had top designers like Ashish Soni and Rohit Gandhi-Rahul Khanna showcase some of their amazing prĂȘt designs. A model walks the ramp in an Ashish Soni piece. Ashish Soni had moustachioed models walk in his creations in doing with his 70s-inspired theme called 'Check Mate'. Particularly catchy were the trousers with cummerbunds, attractive bow ties, checked pants and coats with frills thrown in for good measure. The moustaches resembled Robert Vadra's pencil-slim moustache. Robert Vadra, a childhood friend of Soni was in the row of spectators and many believed Soni's collection was inspired by Vadra. Soni put to rest the speculation, "Robert is my childhood friend. We were in the same school together. However, the look used in the collection is not his imitation. It may be at the back of my mind but it was unintentional." But he admitted the moustache was copied from Vadra. Another of Ashish
